Alternate-site and Remote Testing Requests

Current UCF students are expected to complete the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE) in-person at the UCF University Testing Center, located on the main Orlando campus. The following situations may be considered for alternate-site or remote testing approval.

  • Enrolled in a fully online UCF degree program
  • Permanently residing outside Florida
  • Participating in an experiential learning placement such as internships, co-ops, service learning, practicum, or clinical/field assignments
  • Engaged in Study Abroad or a national/international exchange program

  • Approved for disability accommodations through Student Accessibility Services (SAS) that require remote testing
  • A student on military deployment or active duty

Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and supporting documentation may be required. If you believe you qualify for one of the above circumstances, complete the Civic Literacy Contact Form. If approved, registration and payment instructions will be provided.

Testing Accommodations

The office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works in collaboration with the University Testing Center (UTC) to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made for test takers with documented disabilities. Test takers with disabilities seeking alternative testing arrangements (e.g. extended time, etc.) must request approval from SAS (407-823-2371 or sas@ucf.edu). Note: test takers should allow at least two (2) weeks for SAS and UTC to process the accommodation requests once the formal request has been submitted to SAS.

You can find more details and the request form at: https://sas.sdes.ucf.edu/students/ucf-placement-tests-and-university-testing-center-accommodations/
Once UTC receives notification from the SAS office of a test-taker’s testing accommodations, a UTC staff member will create a registration account for the student and email them instructions to register. Test takers should NOT REGISTER for a testing appointment until they receive these instructions from UTC.

Score Reports

A pass/fail status will be immediately available at the completion of the exam. No printed score reports are generated. Official scores may take a few weeks to appear on your UCF degree audit.

Non-UCF Students

Non-UCF students taking the FCLE at UCF should have received a test ticket with a username from your home institution. This test ticket allows your score to automatically update to your institution’s FCLE database. After testing, contact your institution to confirm that your score is available. Please note: UCF does not send individual FCLE score reports to other institutions.

UCF Students Sending Scores Elsewhere

If you are currently enrolled at UCF and need your FCLE score sent to another institution you previously attended, you can do so by sending an updated transcript once your FCLE status is posted to your UCF record. Transcript requests can be made online: https://registrar.ucf.edu/transcript-request/.

UCF students who took the 2021 FCLE test in-person may also wish to contact the other institution and request they look up scores in the statewide repository.

Updating High School Exam Credit

If you passed the Civic Literacy exam in high school, it satisfies the assessment requirement. If your high school transcript includes the passing score, or shows the exam as passed or satisfied, but your UCF degree audit shows “Not Satisfied” under the exam, request a manual transcript update by submitting a ticket through the UCFIT Service Now portal: https://go.ucf.edu/civicliteracy.
